TikTok Link in Bio: Requirements and How to Add It
The TikTok link in bio rules are less simple than Instagram’s, and it’s common to look for the option and not find it. Eligibility seems to depend on your account type and, for personal accounts, your follower count. Sources also disagree about the details. This guide tells you what we could and couldn’t confirm, how to add the link when you have the option, and what to do if you don’t.
Who can add a link
We couldn’t read TikTok’s help page directly when writing this on 2 November 2026. A search snippet of TikTok’s profile help page indicated that personal accounts need 1,000 followers, and that business accounts can add a website link. Third-party articles broadly repeat that but disagree on specifics, including the rules for business accounts and for different regions.
So treat this as a starting point:
| Account type | What sources indicate | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Personal | Around 1,000 followers | Check your Edit profile screen |
| Business | May be able to add a link | Check your Edit profile screen, and TikTok’s current help |
| Age-restricted | May not have access | Check TikTok’s rules for your age and region |
The most reliable test takes ten seconds: open your own profile and see whether the field is there.
How to add it
If you have the option, the steps are usually:
- Open the TikTok app and go to your profile.
- Tap Edit profile.
- Look for a Website field.
- Enter your full address.
- Save, then test it from another device or account.
Menu names can vary. If it’s there, your link will appear on your profile as a tappable address, below your bio.
Why the option may be missing
If you don’t see a website field, there may be a simple reason:
- Your account doesn’t meet the requirement yet. This is the most common explanation given.
- The feature isn’t available to your account type or region. Rollouts and rules differ.
- Your app is out of date. Update it and check again.
- You’re looking in the wrong place. Check under Edit profile, as well as in your settings.
- Your account is restricted. Check your account status and any notices.
Before you change your account type just to get a link, read what else changes. Switching between personal and business accounts can affect other features, including the music you can use, so look into what would change for you.
A link can also be rejected, or removed, if it goes against TikTok’s rules. If your link won’t save, try a different destination to see whether the address is the problem. Don’t try tricks to get around any limits, as you might put your account at risk.
If you can’t add a link
You still have options.
- Say your address clearly in the video and in your bio. Pick one that’s short and easy to remember. Bio text may not be clickable, but viewers can type it in.
- Use your other social profiles. Add your Instagram or YouTube to your profile, if that’s an option, and put your links there.
- Use a memorable name. “Search for Asha’s Kitchen” works when a URL doesn’t.
- Keep building your audience. Once you’re eligible, you’ll have the link ready.
What to link to
Once you have your one link, choose where it should go. The right answer depends on what TikTok viewers want from you.
| Your situation | Good destination |
|---|---|
| One clear offer | Link straight to it |
| Several offers or platforms | A short page |
| Selling products | Your store, or a page with your best sellers |
| Growing a list | A free download or signup page |
| A local service | A page with booking and contact options |
Whichever you choose, it should load quickly, and work well on a phone. TikTok viewers often arrive from a short video with very little context, so the first screen should match what they just watched.
Moving viewers to your profile
A profile link only works if people visit your profile. You usually have to ask them to.
- Say it naturally. “The recipe’s linked on my profile” is better than a generic “link in bio”.
- Tell them what’s there. Name the specific thing they’ll get.
- Use on-screen text. Many viewers watch without sound.
- Pin a video that explains your link. New visitors will see it near the top of your profile.
- Don’t oversell every video. Ask when you’re offering something useful.
It explains what viewers actually see when you say the words, which helps you give better directions.
Tagging TikTok traffic
If you use the same page across platforms, add a tag so you can see which one sent each visitor. A tagged address might look like this:
https://example.com/your-page?utm_source=tiktok&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=profile
Google’s guide to UTM parameters explains how these tags appear in Google Analytics. Keep the values lowercase, because they’re case sensitive.
If you use BioFlow, there’s no TikTok integration, and you won’t find a TikTok tile. You’d add a plain Link block for any TikTok destination, and put your BioFlow page’s address in your TikTok profile. You can create a named campaign for TikTok, with its source and medium, then use the final URL it gives you as your profile link. Page visits then appear under that campaign in Campaign performance.
Our guide to a cross-platform link strategy explains how to set this up across several accounts, and link in bio for content creators covers what to put on the page.
FAQ
Do I need 1,000 followers?
Probably, if you have a personal account. A snippet of TikTok’s help page indicated 1,000 followers, and many third-party guides say the same, though they disagree on some details. Since rules can vary by account type and region, the quickest check is to see whether Website appears when you tap Edit profile.
Why can’t I add a link?
You may not have met the follower requirement, or your account type or region may not have access. Also check that your app is up to date. If the field is there but the link won’t save, the address itself may be the problem, so test another one and check TikTok’s rules on links.
Can I put links in captions?
Don’t count on it. Generally, TikTok captions and comments aren’t a reliable way to give viewers a clickable link. So send people to your profile, or say a memorable address they can search for. Check TikTok’s current help pages, as features may differ for some accounts or advertisers.
Check your profile first
Open Edit profile now and see whether the field is there. If it is, you’ve got one link to use well. If you need somewhere to send people, you can create a page for your TikTok link, and there’s more for creators on CommentLink.
