How to Audit Your Link in Bio Page in 15 Minutes
Pages don’t break all at once. A discount code expires, a destination moves, a title goes stale, and nobody notices because nobody looks at their own page as a stranger would. A link in bio audit fixes that, and it needn’t take long. Set a timer for 15 minutes, take your phone and work through these five short stages. By the end, you’ll have a short list of fixes, and most of them will be done.
Minute 0 to 3: run the automated checks
Start with the checks a tool can do, so you’re not spending your judgement on simple errors.
In BioFlow, save your page, then open the Page Audit. It checks your last saved page, so unsaved changes won’t be included. It also makes clear that this isn’t a ranking score. It’s a list of setup issues.
Don’t fix anything yet. Note the issues, and group them into the next few stages.
If you’re using another tool, it may have a similar check. If not, use the lists below by hand.
Minute 3 to 6: fix setup issues
These checks cover whether the page is complete.
| Page Audit check | What to do |
|---|---|
| Missing profile name | Add your name or brand |
| Missing or short bio | Say what you do and who it’s for |
| No enabled links | Add or enable a Link block |
| CTA missing a URL or label | Complete your primary button, or remove it |
| Page still in draft | Publish, once you’re happy |
If you need help with the bio, write one sentence: “I help [who] do [what].” That’s enough for now. These are usually quick fixes, and they make the biggest difference to a visitor.
Minute 6 to 9: fix metadata
These checks affect how your page looks when it’s shared or found in search.
| Page Audit check | What to do |
|---|---|
| Missing, short or long page title | Use your name, plus what you do |
| Missing, short or long description | Say what’s on the page |
| Missing or invalid sharing image | Upload one that’s under 2 MB, 200–4096 px per side |
| Noindex is on | Turn off, unless you want to hide the page from search |
Don’t spend long on the wording. Use a template from our guide to page titles. Noindex is the most important one to check, because if it’s on by accident, your page won’t appear in search results at all.
Minute 9 to 12: review links and placeholder text
Next, look at the content of your blocks.
| Page Audit check | What to do |
|---|---|
| Link missing a title | Add a clear label |
| Placeholder link title | Replace text such as “Link” or “Click here” |
| Long link title | Shorten it, so it fits on a phone |
| Duplicate destination | Remove one, or make the difference clear |
| Invalid or unsafe URL | Correct the address |
| Placeholder text or heading | Replace or remove it |
The audit checks whether a link looks valid. It doesn’t know whether the destination is still right. So open your page on your phone, and tap every link. Look for:
- Offers that have ended.
- Pages that have moved.
- Booking calendars with no free slots.
- Store pages for sold-out products.
- Links that need you to log in.
If you’ve got more than you can check in three minutes, you may have too many links. See how many links to use.
Minute 12 to 15: human judgement
This is the stage no tool can do for you. Ask these questions, and be honest.
- Would a stranger know what you do within five seconds?
- Is your first button still your most important goal?
- Does the page match your current posts? If your last three Reels promote a course, is the course easy to find?
- Is every claim still true? Prices, hours, reviews, numbers.
- Are the disclosures right? Paid links and partnerships should be labelled.
- Does it look right to you? Check the colours and images, in daylight. Our design best practices can help.
- What do your numbers say? Look at Top-performing links, then ask whether any quiet ones can go. Link in bio analytics explains what to look for.
Write down anything that takes longer than 15 minutes to fix, along with a date for doing it. You’ve finished the audit, even if you haven’t finished the fixes.
If you’re launching something, or sending a lot of traffic to your page, use the longer launch checklist. Forms and downloads should be tested by submitting them.
A quarterly schedule
For most pages, one audit each quarter is enough, plus an extra one before big campaigns.
| When | What to do |
|---|---|
| Every quarter | The full 15-minute audit |
| Before any campaign | Audit, and test the campaign’s links |
| After a rebrand or price change | Check names, images, prices |
| When a temporary offer ends | Remove or disable it that day |
| Every month, if you have time | Look at your analytics, and tap your top three links |
Add it to your calendar as a recurring appointment. You’ll be less likely to skip it if the date’s already set. Keep a short note of what you changed each time, too, so you can compare your analytics before and after. FAQ
What does the Page Audit check?
It checks your last saved page for setup issues. These include a missing profile name or bio, no enabled links, an incomplete call to action, draft status, title and description problems, a missing or invalid sharing image, noindex, link titles, duplicate destinations, unsafe addresses and placeholder text. It isn’t a ranking score or a judgement of your offer.
How often should I audit?
Once a quarter works for most pages, with an extra check before any big campaign. If your offers change often, audit more often, or at least check your top links once a month. A temporary offer should be removed the day it ends, rather than waiting for your next audit.
What can’t be automated?
Judgement. A tool can see that a link is valid, but not that the offer has ended or that the destination is the wrong one. It also can’t tell whether your bio is clear, your main button is still your priority, or your page matches what you’re posting. That’s why the last stage is done by you.
Set the timer
Open your page, start a 15-minute timer and begin with the automated checks. You’ll be surprised by how much you find. In BioFlow, you can run your Page Audit after saving your page.
